Let Yourself Fall into Someone Else’s Strength
The Divine Eye: Seeing the Good in Everything and Everyone, March 24, 1995, Oasis Bookstore, Amherst, Massachusetts
I have a question. I’m faced with the next steps in my life. The way for me to go to school this past year opened up very beautifully, and quite timely. I’m thinking of going on to school, and I want to ask a couple questions. One is about what school would be best for me, if you have any tips on it, and just about the direction in which I am to move forward in my life, or the place that I’m to move in my life from?
Yeah, dear one, it is very important for you in your life to have the strong support of another person. Very important. Not because you cannot do it alone, not for that reason. But because that support is a very big risk for you to take. It is very, very beautiful to let yourself fall into someone else’s strength. Others, however are rarely strong enough to fall into with safety. It is very hard, but after time, some very good ones grow stronger and stronger, so that it is easier and easier to fall into their strength.
One thing, dear one, that we think is very important for you is to not think of yourself as someone who must go it alone. Even when you are with other people, the tendency sometimes is to feel that you can do this alone. Dear one, there is no need to do this alone. So, allow the love of your family, your friends, your world to be there for you. But most especially, allow the strength of one other person to hold you up, and to lift you like a cloud so that this will be easy for you. The easy part of it may feel hard, because what is easy, it makes the rest of life easy. Yes. Do you like the cold here?
Yes.
Then by all means we feel that school should be somewhere in the vicinity then. If you enjoy the cold, you shouldn’t ever deprive yourself of it. It has got a capacity to regenerate you. Yes. Sprouts come because the winter came. So, that is true for you as well. What is your vocational dream?
Oh, to travel, teach and train.
Good. Do you want to travel to Europe?
Yes, that would be nice.
We think that you would do well in Europe. People there are— you would relate very well to them. They’ve got a sort of honesty about them that is very refreshing. They tend to be a little more intense than the people here generally are; they are more intense, more direct. And that would really get you going? Are you writing?
Right this moment?
Yes. No, I mean, writing books in your life,
Oh yes. I’m writing in my life.
What are you writing?
Poetry.
Good.
Stories.
Good.
Narratives.
Good.
Research papers.
Are you writing about your family?
Um. I am, as a matter of fact.
Yeah.
I like to write.
Writing about the family is really helpful because it tells you who you are, more and more. It is really illuminating to discover within oneself, what one is family has created.
Mm-hm.
School. Where school is not as important as how long school. That is the critical thing. Do you have to work while you are schooling?
I would like not to.
We would prefer you not to also. It would be better not to work, to devote oneself to school, only school, and get it done faster. Because school itself is not an experience you need. It is really that school will give you the credential; that is what you need. So, don’t make a lifestyle of school if you can avoid it. And certainly, dear one, thinking of yourself as only a student is not worthy of who you are.
You are so much, so many things. Student is perhaps one of the things you are. But you are so many things. Don’t ever say, “I’m only a student.” Mm. We don’t think you should necessarily visit South East Asia when you travel for a little while. This area of the world is in flux. Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, Indonesia, these places. Don’t go there for at least five years. After that time, it will be safer.
O.K.
We feel that your writing has yet to fully bloom. Although it is quite good, it is yet in its blossoming stage. It is not completely opened yet. You must keep writing for your own pleasure while you are in school. That must not go by the wayside. Because in your school work you draw life from your writing of your life. You will write very dry papers, if you are not writing for your own pleasure also. Are you dreaming well?
Oh yes.
At night time if you write down on a pad, “I will remember every dream I have tonight.” in the morning you will find you’re doubling and tripling the numbers of dreams you recall. Where’s your mother, dear one?
She is in Minnesota.
Do you speak with her?
Yes.
We have a very good feeling about your mother.
She is a good woman.
[Eon cries] That is absolutely correct. When will you see your mother next?
Shortly, a couple of months.
Good. That is not long.
No.
She’d like to see you more often.
She would like to see me more often.
The mother is very important because you must have the mother in support for everything you do. It is important for everyone to have their mother’s blessing. The mother represents the feminine side of God— the power of creation and destruction. With that power on your side, you can go far, all things are possible. With that power not on your side, you cannot make or destroy anything. You must have your mother’s support. So, ask her for her support.
O.K.
We’re very glad you’re here tonight, dear one.
Thank you.
